There is something terrifying about being read. Not skimmed or passed over, but truly seen—the kind of reading that slows your eyes because a sentence touched something tender you forgot you were carrying. If you’re here, then you should know: you’re holding my heart in your hands. Every word has passed through something real—quiet, wild, healing, unfinished. And maybe, if you stay long enough, you’ll find that these pieces were never just mine.
There is something terrifying about being read.
I don’t mean glanced at.
I don’t mean skimmed while someone stands in line at the grocery store, half-listening to their own life.
I mean read.
The kind of read where your eyes slow down because something in the sentence touched a bruise you forgot you had. The kind where you stop scrolling for a second because a stranger just said the thing you’ve been swallowing for years.
That kind.
And if you’re here, reading this, then I guess I should tell you the truth.
You are holding my heart in your hand.
Every post has a pulse in it. Some of them are soft. Some of them are still bleeding around the edges. Some were written with tears drying on my face and a stubborn little piece of hope sitting beside me like, “Get up. We’re not done.”
I’ve laid pieces of myself here.
Quiet pieces.
Wild pieces.
Pieces I tried to hide because I thought they made me too emotional, too tender, too much, too hard to understand.
But maybe that’s what writing is.
Maybe it’s taking all the things that almost broke you and pressing them into words gently enough that someone else can hold them without cutting themselves.
My emotions have bled out on every post.
I wish I could make that sound prettier, but some truths don’t come dressed for company. They come barefoot. Shaking. Honest.
They come through the door and sit down at the table because they are tired of being buried.
So I write.
I write because there were seasons of my life when my voice had nowhere safe to go. I write because silence can get heavy enough to bruise the inside of a person. I write because I’ve learned that healing doesn’t always arrive loudly. Sometimes it comes as one sentence typed at midnight when the rest of the house is asleep. Sometimes it comes as a memory you finally stop running from.
Sometimes it comes as a page.
Your eyes will discover my soul here.
That sounds dramatic, I know. I can hear myself. But I mean it.
You’ll find the parts of me that still believe in softness after being handled roughly. You’ll find the parts of me that still believe in love, even after love once walked into my life wearing all the wrong clothes.
You’ll find the parts of me that are thankful, even when gratitude had to crawl through grief to get here.
You’ll find a woman who has been undone and rebuilt in the same lifetime.
A woman who has learned that hope is sometimes quiet because it’s tired, but still alive.
A woman who can laugh, cry, forgive, question God, clean the kitchen, put on mascara, love her babies, miss what was, bless what left, and still believe something beautiful is coming.
All before noon, probably.
Your fingers are clicking through my mind.
That’s the strangest part.
You can move from one thought to another. One ache to another. One little doorway to a memory I thought belonged only to me.
You can click through my joy. My grief. My becoming. My almosts. My thank-God-I-survived-that moments.
You can wander through the rooms I’ve left open.
Some are filled with light. Some still smell like rain. Some have boxes in the corner I haven’t fully unpacked yet.
Be gentle in there.
I’m still learning how to be seen without flinching.
There are words here I wrote for the version of me who needed them first.
The woman who needed someone to say, “You’re not crazy. You’re not weak. You’re not behind. You’re becoming, even here.” And maybe, if I’m lucky, those same words will find the version of you who needed them too.
I hope each delicate word feels like a star you didn’t expect to notice.
Small. Bright. Quietly there.
The kind you only see when life gets dark enough.
I hope something in these pages makes you pause and feel a little less alone in your own skin. I hope a sentence finds you on a day when you’ve been pretending too hard. I hope one small line slips through the armor and sits beside the part of you that still wants to believe.
Because I felt all of this when I created it.
Every word had to pass through me first.
Some of them came easy. Some of them fought me. Some of them sat in my chest for years before I finally had enough courage to let them become language.
And maybe that’s why this place matters to me. It isn’t polished perfection. It’s proof of life.
Proof that a woman can lose pieces of herself and still come back with flowers in her hands. Proof that pain can soften without disappearing. Proof that the heart can be cracked wide open and somehow, somehow, still make room for beauty.
So if you’re here, thank you.
Thank you for touching these words with care.
Thank you for letting your eyes sit with my heart for a moment.
Thank you for being the kind of person who still believes words can carry something holy.
I hope you find a piece of me here.
And more than that, I hope you find a piece of yourself.
All my love.. JustJessica
